Benefits of Kefir
It has been three weeks now since I have introduced the probiotic kefir to our family. We have religiously taken at least a couple of glasses each day since. What is Kefir? Kefir is tagged as probiotic primarily because it is full of good bacteria that enhances and stabilizes the microorganisms in the intestines.

Kefir is also found to be a very effective immune system stimulant and combats a wide variety of gram positive and gram negative bacteria. Since time immemorial, kefir has been known to treat gastrointestinal disorders, metabolic disorders, atherosclerosis, allergy, tuberculosis and even cancer. Kefir is also widely associated with longevity in the people of Caucasus. The particular variety I have is the Caucasus. The other variety that is also used by other people is the Tibetan.

All that being said, although kefir is basically an immune system stabilizer, I recently found out that even as I consume around three tall glasses a day, it has helped me with my goal to diet. It has served as an appetite suppressant as I take it before meals. Naturally I would feel half full already before I start with my main course. In fact, after 3 weeks I can effortlessly fit my clothes again. This is really something unexpected. After all, I only incorporated kefir to our family diet for its health benefits and I’m just thrilled enough that it can give me more than just that.
