Our Canon A620 is finally home
Exactly two months and a week after we dropped off our Canon A620 Powershot camera to Canon’s local service center in Pasong Tamo, Makati, Philippines, it was finally sent via courier last Friday, September 11, 2009.

It was good that I spoke with Merici Domingo, the acting manager of the center, when we were last there in September 4, before we left the center. I don’t think it is even necessary for me to detail everything that happened. What is important is that they have owned up to their fault and finally settled on the order fulfillment that we agreed to. To make amends, they did not charge us with the service fee. To be honest, that was really the least that they could do. After all the money wasted on gas and time, not to mention the frustration.
Although, there is still a slight thing they overlooked. They were not able to seal the LCD. We’re still deliberating if we need to return this. Because, really, it is still going to function even without the side seal. But I wonder further about their quality control. I was told by Merici that she wanted to have the job rushed, but it shouldn’t have meant missing out on such details.
Anyway, after having spoken to Agnes Fernando, Canon’s Assistant Director last September 9, 2009 during an event, I am appeased that Canon is moving towards having their service center be at par with the quality of brand Canon has. I will still remain a lover of Canon products and even as the Philippines is infamous for having the crappiest of service, regardless of the kind of establishment, here’s one voice that is still hoping to shout out that we really can do better. And this post is intended for just exactly that. :-)
