Baby Things Review: GIGA Baby Soap

giga-baby-soap One of my favorite suppliers of organic bath and body essentials, GIGA came up with their baby line.  So far, I can only say great things about the GIGA baby soap.  My ever energetic four year old does not get as sour smelling as before, even through hours of active play.  He smells fresh longer than usual.

GIGA baby soap is our current favorite from their brand new line.  Ingredients are: Virgin Coconut Oil, Water, Sodium Hydroxide, Wheatgerm oil, Grapeseed oil, Sweet Almond Oil, Lavender Oil, Chamomile Oil, Sodium Silicate, TEDTA and BHT.

We have been GIGA users from 2005 and I love that this company provides consumers with the wiser organic option.

To Have or Not to Have a Pet

Is it good for a home to have pets when there are kids around? This is something a couple has to agree on, especially if they both lean to different biases. As true as children can actually learn responsibility when given pets, it should also go without saying that if you are to keep a pet around the house, each pet should be properly vaccinated.

dogs-and-kids

Keeping a dog in the house can actually be extra hassle, but if pet owners/ parents do not mind the bother, aside from having to buy dog supplies on a regular basis, periodic immunizations and grooming, parents should also make sure that your kid is not left alone with a dog. A child can have unpredictable behavior and the same with dogs. It is definitely a no-no to have dogs and cats with an infant.

Children and dogs can become best of friends through time. It is just important to follow simple precautions and guidelines to avoid accidents and danger.

Bizu’s Summer Sorbets and Yoga Cake

What can be more delightful than Bizu’s Summer Sorbets and Yoga Cake to cool down the summer heat! This is what we were served with and a handful of other treats during the Bloggers Merienda 2 that was held in Bizu Patisserie and Café in Greenhills.

Bizu’s Summer Sorbets and Yoga Cake are probably two of the most innovative summer treats I have ever tried. The serving of Summer Sorbets consists of: Apple and Mint, Raspberry and Merlot, Passion Fruit and Mango, Lemon and Ginger and Lychee and Vanilla. The set is sold for P285. The sweet kicks you get from the fascinating play of each flavor in every concoction would just have you ask for more. My favorite from the Summer Sorbets collection is the Lychee and Vanilla. I would have delightfully finished a mugful without complaining, if I had the chance.

The passion fruits comes into serious sweet play in Bizu’s most recent masterpiece – The Yoga Cake. As a lover of yogurt, it is not difficult to fall in love with this treat. The complementing tastes of yogurt and custard,  topped with  passion fruits and the biscuits that hold the cake create a perfect blend for that ultimate summer indulgence. The Yoga Cake comes in three sizes: Personal – P165, Midi – P625 and Grande – P1,255. Make sure to spot and get a taste of the season’s finest: Bizu’s Summer Sorbets and Yoga Cake.

Assess Your Body Type

How does one review a night dress and actually conclude that it suits you best? The first thing to remember when choosing a particular outfit is comfort. If you think what you have in your hand is the prettiest of all dresses but you happen to be the most bashful to be able to pull it off, then it might not be a good idea to get that piece.

lingerie

Taking some time to assess your body type is also a priority. Make sure you don’t rob the fun of dressing up by messing it up by getting a piece that does not flatter your body type. You might want to check my other blog KikayCorner.net to assess your body type and figure out from there if the kind of women’s lingerie or any dress for that matter, fits you.

Cloth Diaper Review

First off, let me overwhelm you with statistics.  Disposable Diapers:
Pampers comfort: Php 7 x 12 (if you change every two hours) x 365 (days in a year) = Php 30,660/year (approx.$653)
Pampers Baby Dry Php 8.25 =
(same computation)Php 36,135/year
Prokids Php 6 = Php 26,280/year
EQ Dry Php 6 = Php 26,280/year
Huggies Php 9 = Php 39,420/year
Kimbies Dry Php 6 = Php 26,280/year
Drypers Dry Php 7 = Php 30,660/year

Do the math. That is just the economic advantage of using leakproof cloth diapers. There are a whole lot more like zero risk of getting nappy rash that is caused by the chemical in disposables that make them super absorbent. The same chemical that makes it almost impossible for disposables to rot. It actually takes 50 plus years for a single disposable diaper to rot.

Just what future are we to give our children and the generations after them when we don’t care enough the environment to shift to using leakproof cloth diaper instead of disposables. There is the unquestionable convenience of the disposables, true. In fact, in the full two years that my little guy wore nappies, I still had him used disposables when we went out. But other than that, he was on leakproof cloth diapers.

If I remember it right the largest size was no more than $6 a piece. We had a total of 16 diapers that we used all throughout the time that he used nappies. That’s not a bad investment right? In fact, all those are now lent to a dear friend for her little girl. The picture on the right is my little guy in his TushyWushy Leakproof cloth diaper when he was around six months old. :-)

Intex Portable Pool

We bought this portable mini pool for our son last summer and it was an instant hit! It was affordable at a little more than $30. I know I could always have him soak in our tub, but where is the fun in enjoying the outdoors while enjoying the water, right?

We actually had more than three options, but this particular one stood out. It looks more durable and definitely should last us more than just a couple of summers.
Unlike the tub, this portable pool can accommodate at least four grown ups and can usher to a great bonding time with family and friends. :-)

Anti-Mosquito Review: Ilog Maria’s Sting-less

I have been using this on my son for several years now. I have been an avid fan of Ilog Maria products. This is so doing well protecting my son from mosquitoes every single day.
Sting-less is a Citronella Mosquito Repellent with Propolis. It safely repels mosquitoes and other insects with natural plant and fruit oils that have pleasing smell that lasts for hours. All you have to do is apply it on clothing and less sensitive areas of the skin. The Propolis ingredient provides antifungal, antibacterial and antiviral action.

A 50ml bottle costs Php 71.50 and it lasts more than a couple of months or even three. I really am not sure, I am not keeping count. It is very practical and effective. I admit to still try other anti-mosquito brands when I see one from the store that would claim to be all natural, but this is the brand I always go back to. It is very gentle on my son’s skin aside from it’s guarantee to be all-natural.
