The Seat In Front

One afternoon, while I was watching a romantic movie, which I need to do a review afterwards, I noticed that the seat in front of me was never occupied though the movie theater is somewhat full and that I happen to be in a good viewing seat. There were several movie goers who passed by that seat in front of me but there was something on it that made the people looked for another seat.

I really got curious so even if I didn’t like the movie because I found it boring, I waited for it to end until the lights inside the theater were turned on. I immediately take a look at the seat in front of me and found out that it really needed a leather seat repair because it was really a wreck.

SM Marikina – A Mall Review

SM Marikina is one of the places our family frequents. Aside from its being accessible from where we live, it’s the newest in the block. I have heard quite a number of opinions from commuters. Low accessibility for them. But it should also be noted that the owners have built infrastructures to address this issue. Still, the long walk from where people will alight off the public transpo to the mall itself can be quite a distance.

I still hear people say that it is better to go to Sta. Lucia, Robinson’s Metro East and for people who live in Marikina to just hang around the Riverbanks Mall instead. It really has its downside for commuters around the vicinity. Which personally, may just be one of the reasons why I favor this place. I have yet to see for myself it being crowded as most malls are, especially during paydays.

We love going to SM Marikina although I still could never quite understand how on earth that a third world country as the Philippines could actually afford to have so many malls, particularly in Manila. SM Marikina is just one of them. But allow me to enumerate a few things that have attracted me to this mall.

It has probably the most decent and non-restricting parking space that I have ever seen in a mall parking space, hands down. I don’t know if it is just me, but I always get this funny feeling whenever I park anywhere from the Edsa Shangri-la Mall to Glorietta, even that of Rockwell’s Powerplant Mall. It’s almost always hard to breathe in other malls that if you wouldn’t look like an idiot, you’d race to the entrance as fast as your feet could carry you. Not to mention those pipes hanging that you could almost hear the air flow or what have you in there. It feels so dangerous in malls like that whose owners have obviously tried to maximize the mall space and made sure that the vertical clearance is its narrowest possible. I love that Henry Sy considered the motorists who would frequent his brand new mall baby. Although, I still wouldn’t fail to hear my mother wonder aloud why mall owners charge parking fees to customers here in the Philippines. She would repeatedly note that this is not so in the States. For parking fees, they charge PhP 25 for the covered area and PhP15 for the open parking place.

Although SM Marikina isn’t that huge inside, the layout of the place is really good. Look at all those breathing space in its Cyberzone area. This is where we would usually go to – the techie couple that the hubby and I are.

Another thing I love about SM Marikina is its being a free WiFi zone. I can check my emails, do instant messaging without fuss from my mobile, laptop whether I am shopping or dining in any of the restaurants inside the mall.

Children’s Place Review: Fun Ranch

This is a shot of my son and his favorite playmate, Chamy, my bestfriend’s sweet daughter. They both are having the time of their lives here. This place is a wonderland for children and even adults. No entrance fee, but the amenities therein are great. A real fun place for children.

The available shops are all kid friendly. Trendy clothes shops for children, children’s haircut place even a spa especially made for them. That was the first time I saw a spa for children. This place is really something else. There is a huge area covered by Timezone on the second floor. My son especially had fun doing the train ride that went around for around 10 minutes just circling the second floor area. I have to add that the way this place was constructed was excellent. It was interesting how they were able to squeeze in a legitimate hanging bridge. We hope to bring our son back to this fun place again soon.

Hotel Review: Arizona International Hotel

This was the hotel we stayed in October of last year. It was a frontbeach hotel which gives it a head start over the other hotels in that place. The service was good. The location is along the highway so that gives this hotel another plus for accessibility.

We stayed in an airconditioned family suite with cable TV and room safe vault. This place is also ideal for business people because they offer free internet access and this place has also hotspot availability. Although it was kind of uncomfortable when we see girls which we are not certain if hospitality girls around their Mai Tai Bar and Grill, I guess it is expected of places around Olongapo and Subic.

For Twin Sharing (3D/2N) their rates start at PhP3,365/pax, which is not bad. This hotel and resort offer quality service. This is the perfect hotel to arrange your booking if you would be looking for a place in Subic to just go home to for the night. Because it is basically expected that when you go to that place you would check out theme parks and places around the area which Subic is very famous for. All in all it was a good stay for our family and my bestfriend’s family. This vacation was actually a treat from my best friend, Gina.

Recreational Place Review: Avilon Zoo

Despite the news that I heard from the previous week, (a girl was bitten by one of it’s resident snakes) I would still give this recreational place a thumb’s up. This place is located in Rodriguez, Rizal. Boasting of a seven hectare habitat for all those awesome animals. I really have to give it to this zoo.

Entrance fee was more than PhP200/head, but it was worth every penny. You will need two solid hours to get around it, and boy it is all worth it. One should get around with a tour guide though. You wouldn’t appreciate all the wonderful facts about all those hundreds, if not thousands of animals as much as when you have someone to explain and introduce you to all those wonderful creatures.
