Our family has been a bunch of regular patrons of Super Bowl of China since 2005. Thanks to Yehey!, because earlier today we were given a sneak taste of their super new dishes, namely: Golden Weave Cut US Frozen Potatoes with Minced Pork, Beef Fillet Chinese Style, Crispy Fish Fillet with Lemon and Plum Sauce and Hot and Spicy Chicken. Everything was good but my favorite is the Golden Weave Cut US Frozen Potatoes with Minced Pork. Yumm-o!
That is an additional thing to go back to on top of my long time favorite, Yang Chow from Super Bowl of China. The very first thing that attracted me to the restaurant is the NO MSG ADDED dishes that they have.
We also got to meet Super Happi and Super Lucky, the fun siblings mascots. Feast over Super Bowl of China’s super new dishes the soonest. Check them out from one of their several branches:

Last Saturday was the second time we have been to Flaming Wings in Katipunan. Definitely the best affordable buffalo New York style chicken wings place I have been to, so far. During our first visit, we ordered Linguini in Clam Sauce for P108 and 5 piece chicken wings (that easily became 10 pieces) for P211. We ended up having the rest of the chicken wings to go, because they were still a lot after my husband and I got ourselves full with the oil rich plates we ordered.
Flaming Wings’ original sauce and bleu cheese dip are so good that we have gotten kinda stuck to it. So we have not tried the other variants yet. Sauces to choose from are: Original, Mild n’ Sweet, Wild, Smokey BBQ and Carribean Jerk. For dips: Bleu Cheese, Honey Mustard, Ranch, Aioli, Balsamic Mayo and Wasabi Mayo.
The steal is their combo package of sorts where you get to order the good ‘ol chicken wings (2pcs.) and it comes with rice and iced tea. You also choose the sauce and dip variants for only P110. The same price also applies for their Chicken Tenders combo. What’s sweet about this package is the iced tea does not come in kids party cups sizes. A tall, decent glass of iced tea/juice that perfectly complements the meal is served with the package.

Hana of Little Tokyo in Makati, hands down has the best Takoyaki balls in this side of the world. This is what I concluded during the Mother’s Day luncheon the hubs and I had. I was then able to prove for myself that all that talk about this famous Takoyaki place is true. I first learned about it via Leirs over at Plurk that there is this one place that serves authentic Takoyaki. Like no Takoyaki stall in the metro has ever come close. It is so true. As authentic as it can be. For one, their cooks except for one are all Japanese.
While going to Hana of Little Tokyo in Makati to get hold of my ultimate comfort food is not really the most convenient, it is very well worth it. First, we had to park in the pitiful mall across Little Tokyo. It is as lowly as any mall could get. Escalators do not work, their supposed department store area smells like that of a rat infested place. It’s crazy how that kind of mall exists in the heart of Makati. But we do not have a choice but park in that building otherwise we’re going to get our car seats toasted if parked right outside Little Tokyo and there is a very slim chance that we can ever get a slot anyway.
Hana’s Takoyaki is just right to the taste. It was actually my first time to have that kind of Takoyaki. There’s a certain crunch as you bite and as you go further the moist and flavor of real octopus meat will steam up your throat and blast your mouth with what real Takoyaki should taste like. I wouldn’t mind getting one serving a day. But I’d bet I would need to get the best diet pill to keep to my ideal weight, if that would be the case. As someone who has had takoyaki in the list of her favorite things since I stepped out of middle school, that is saying a lot already. We also tried their Hotate Cream Sauce and Sukiyaki plate. Both of which are two of the yummiest Japanese dishes we have ever had. I have settled for the lesser kind of takoyaki in the past, all right. Hana’s Takoyaki sells for P100 per six pieces.
It was last Saturday, March 28, when Mr. Benjamin Pedro welcomed the hubby and me, alongside other chocoholics to Heaven a.k.a. Heavenly Chocolates. He conducted a very interesting seminar on the dynamics of chocolates, where it come from and basically its various different classes.
Heavenly Chocolates made way to my first ever relatively comprehensive type of Chocolates 101 subject. I couldn’t believe it took me 32 years before learning all those things, to think that I have always considered myself to be a hopeless chocoholic. My favor on chocolates have always leaned either to the dark ones or the Belgiany, smooth types. Sure I can tolerate all those in between but this particular sweet tooth loves the strong flavor of dark ones. I guess, as a person who is passionate about healthy stuff, it came when I first learned that dark ones are the healthiest of the bunch.
I figured then that smooth chocolates have a handful of other different types in its category. Boy was I for a great and sweet chocolatey spin!
The Chocolate Appreciation seminar got us to taste several kinds of chocolates and Mr. Pedro had us distinguish each type with its name. It’s just the most interesting that as chocolate as everything is, there is always a distinction of one type to another. With all the chocolate discussions Mr. Pedro tackled, I so made sure I got most of it documented. I cut each video to 10 mins. each to make sure that I get them posted on YouTube without fuss.
As a big migraine sufferer (and when I say big, I seriously mean BIG- it comes at a regular time every month), I really ought to be thankful that chocolate is not one of the things that trigger my migraine attacks. Cheese, lack of sleep, hunger, citrus fruits, bright yellow lights, but never chocolates. On the contrary, chocolate tops my list of comfort foods. I am so thrilled to know that in this side of the world, my cravings for chocolates can be satisfied right within the area of Roces Avenue in Quezon City, which is better known as Heavenly Chocolates.

Tofu Steak did not exactly sound very appealing to me, but it was what I had during my last visit at Conti’s. The very first time my family and I tasted what Conti’s has to offer, we were instant believers. Mango Bravo was to die for. I dined in with my good friend, Beth. Greenhills branch this time, it took us quite a while before we finally got to order. We wanted to try everything but there is only so much that our tummies can hold. She decided on trying out the Supreme Pasta something. I did not really pay attention. I took note of what I ordered. I chose it is because of this “must-try” sticker on the menu. Pretty lame excuse, but I’m sure glad to have succumbed to its call.
I actually did not expect much from Conti’s Tofu Steak. For P195 (approx. $4.25), I actually got to have a taste of probably one of the yummiest health food I have ever tried and what’s neat about it is, it did not put a whole in my pocket. If dinner is always this healthy I’m sure I wouldn’t have to go check for diet pill that works.
This yummy dish consists of healthy stir fried tofu and seasoned shitake mushrooms, served with kani salad and Japanese fried rice. I love Conti’s because of the distinct taste of their every dish. There are some restaurants that are so predictable. You get five different dishes and they kind of all taste the same. This is not the same with Conti’s. Aside from the rich taste of their dishes, they also serve in generous amounts. You will actually step out of the restaurant full-filled. And as much as I would love to order Tofu Steak on the next visit, I am compelled to try yet another dish. I really loved the Tofu steak, I hope I have said that enough.
This is possibly the yummiest cordon bleu we have tasted to date. We have dined in Icebergs a handful of times but we only tried this dish last December 23. It is worth around $4 and my son really loved it! The branch we went to was the one in Pasay.
The California Clubhouse Sandwich. Priced at PhP 165 (approx. $3.59) at Magnolia House in Q.C. A tripled decker sandwich (wheat bread) layered with mango crab filling, ham, egg omelet and veggies. According to the huge menu, it’s a best seller. But then again, if this is a best seller, then I wouldn’t dare taste non-best sellers from the menu.
Needless to say, it was not the best lunch I ever had. I should have tried one of their ice creams, the place being an ice cream house. Then I should have left the place happier.
Ohana is located at the second floor of Megamall Bldg. A. We have tried this place out basically because of its free WiFi for diners and soon found out that their barbeque dishes are not all that bad. They have this signature taste that seems to be evident in each dish. Their restaurant theme is unmistakenly Hawaiian, with the girl in a grass skirt serving the patrons and the background music that repeats itself over and over again. I swear the hubby and I still had their music in our heads hours after we left their place! I am so glad that during our last visit (last Saturday), they incorporated some other music aside from their theme song that goes, “Ohana! Ohana!”
This Chicken Musubi costs around $2.90 and it is Hawaii meets Tokyo kind of meal. It is not bad but I should say they have better meals.
Before World Bangers Haute Dog, there was only one hotdog shop that we really love, that is Ogie Doggie’s. I have not looked it up, but so far the only World Bangers Haute Dog place we found was at Rockwell’s. Talk about “haute” and their dogs are “haute” as can be. Not your ordinary hotdog place I should say with prices ranging from $3.50 to $4.00. But all very well worth it.
This is what I ordered. Delish as delish could be. I forgot what they call this plate altogether. You might have a hard time choosing from different plates when you get there, but I guess they are all worth a try.
We first had our first taste of Cucina from one of those restaurants around the Fort area. I was one of the most glad to have found it inside Greenbelt mall amongst what the locals would call food court. First reason, no service charge. It saved us a lot, not more 12% up the total bill and another 10% for that extra something. This resto gave us a break away from the tiring fast food taste. It’s finally having to eat real food outside your home! This plate cost me around PhP149.00 (approx. $3.75) and tastes yummy. And it’s actually one of those what they call value meal where you could get your pick of two different viands with garlic rice and regular soup for that particular price. Spanish cuisine.
