Reviewing products is not just tedious but requires detailed observation. This is especially true when you are reviewing beauty products. You have to make sure you stop using a particular product for at least a week before applying the new one to be reviewed. Read the rest of this entry »

Reviewing things, be it a mobile application, a restaurant’s service or just a regular food alternative can sometimes be a task. But it is also an avenue for me to be able to evaluate these things and be able to either recommend to friends or warn them of a place’s bad service.

Event Title: Bisolvon bilis – alis ubo ng Pamilya!
Theme: Mula NOON… hanggang NGAYON… basta UBO, BISOLVON!
When: July 3 – 5, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
Where: SM Mall of Asia, Area beside skating rink
Duration: 10 am – 8 pm

EVENT OBJECTIVE:
“When you or someone close to you suffers from cough with phlegm, you want to solve their problems in a caring and effective way”
The “Bisolvon bilis – alis ubo ng Pamilya” Family Day was organized as part of the brand’s efforts to strengthen Bisolvon’s image as the “Family cough medicine” that families can trust through the years. Over time, the brand has been recognized as one of the pioneers in the cough medicine industry, as it has proven its value through the years, already existing for more than 4 decades today (40+ years).
Given this, the event held last July 3 – 5 in the SM Mall of Asia was slated to further establish Bisolvon as the “family cough medicine” by encouraging families to spend quality time bonding with each other through joining the three-day “Bisolvon family day”. In the process, this will thus re-acquaint the doting mom – and – kid pairs to the family brand that is Bisolvon. Through this effort, the brand hopes to forge a strong attachment of the brand’s identity to the idea of being the cough medicine for the whole family. Read the rest of this entry »

During this time of economic crunch, it always helps that we are covered with insurance. As we renew our insurance coverage every year, it is always best to evaluate your provider. Make sure it delivers what you need when it comes to health care, for instance. A disability insurance should also help in the event of accidents. By far, from what I have observed, this is the one insurance that almost always offer the least premium, making it affordable for practically everyone.

Long before those Takuyaki stalls began sprouting, there was this one Takoyaki place that I often visited when we were still renting an apartment in Makati. The stall is Jyubu’s Food Station located in Metro Market Market’s Food Choices nook.

One prominent thing that I loved about their Takoyaki is those pieces of octopus that are inside the takoyaki balls. They actually have them inside every ball. It makes all the other Takuyaki stalls nothing more than a flour balls with flavoring. They also use Marinora imported from Japan and only the finest fish powder from Davao.
Last May 7, I had the privilege of meeting the owner of Jyubu’s Food Station, Virginia Villanobles. I had to ask her if there were other stalls that they have aside from Market Market! They do but nothing close to where we live. They have one in Cherry Fooderama in Mandaluyong.
Jyubu’s takoyaki is not anything close to Hana’s, but it sure is better than those served from Takuyaki stalls. Yes with the letter “u” in the spelling.

Before you grab that commercial toothpaste that claims to have the ability to whiten your teeth, it might interest you to know that you can actually try to use your good ‘ol baking soda. Just dip your toothbrush with a pea sized toothpaste into the baking soda and brush away. Do this regularly and you just might be surprised what this rather simplistic treatment can be very effective.

But don’t fret when your aged coffee stains would not come off. It would often take a while. Sometimes you would even need the expertise of a Plano Dentist to take care of the job. But you can always go back to your regular baking soda treatment for maintenance.

Hana of Little Tokyo in Makati, hands down has the best Takoyaki balls in this side of the world. This is what I concluded during the Mother’s Day luncheon the hubs and I had. I was then able to prove for myself that all that talk about this famous Takoyaki place is true. I first learned about it via Leirs over at Plurk that there is this one place that serves authentic Takoyaki. Like no Takoyaki stall in the metro has ever come close. It is so true. As authentic as it can be. For one, their cooks except for one are all Japanese.

While going to Hana of Little Tokyo in Makati to get hold of my ultimate comfort food is not really the most convenient, it is very well worth it. First, we had to park in the pitiful mall across Little Tokyo. It is as lowly as any mall could get. Escalators do not work, their supposed department store area smells like that of a rat infested place. It’s crazy how that kind of mall exists in the heart of Makati. But we do not have a choice but park in that building otherwise we’re going to get our car seats toasted if parked right outside Little Tokyo and there is a very slim chance that we can ever get a slot anyway.
Hana’s Takoyaki is just right to the taste. It was actually my first time to have that kind of Takoyaki. There’s a certain crunch as you bite and as you go further the moist and flavor of real octopus meat will steam up your throat and blast your mouth with what real Takoyaki should taste like. I wouldn’t mind getting one serving a day. But I’d bet I would need to get the best diet pill to keep to my ideal weight, if that would be the case. As someone who has had takoyaki in the list of her favorite things since I stepped out of middle school, that is saying a lot already. We also tried their Hotate Cream Sauce and Sukiyaki plate. Both of which are two of the yummiest Japanese dishes we have ever had. I have settled for the lesser kind of takoyaki in the past, all right. Hana’s Takoyaki sells for P100 per six pieces.

The Robert’s Inn & Suites is the place we stayed in when the hubby and I went for our short getaway to Tagaytay last December. Robert’s Inn boasts of traditional British and Filipino hospitality and they are true to their claim. The hubby loved it most because he was able to watch his favorite football games live.

Robert’s Inn Bed and Breakfast was not our first choice. We went from one bed and breakfast place to another and one of the hubby’s priority is a wifi zone area, which Robert’s Inn has. They have accommodating and courteous staff. Although we had to switch from Tulip cottage to The Magnolia Room (because the Tulip cottage’s cable was busted), we had a good deal with P995/night (approx. $22).

Our family sure loved our time in Tagaytay. We hope to go back to Robert’s Inn Bed and Breakfast and maybe have our Suburban extended stay hotel there on our next Tagaytay getaway.

My love affair with Ciao Bella is replaced by Angelati Italia Gelato, for a reason. I first came across this yummy gelato treat in Megamall and have not seen any other branch aside from it. I dropped the madness I once had with Ciao Bella as soon I tasted my first Pure Pistachio Angelati Italia Gelato.

The smoothness of Angelati Italia Gelato is undeniable. I tried Pagliacci’s gelato in Podium but it just does not measure up. The fact that this heavenly gelato is almost sinless and low fat unlike your regular ice cream, you can actually allow yourself to indulge without having to grab an appetite suppressant.
This gelato is priced at P450-550/liter, depending on the flavor. This photo is taken via my E63 mobile, I’ll make sure to bring my trusty cam the next time I get my next tub and another review on another flavor. Angelati Italia Gelato tops the list of my favorite things.
